Meet H.

hey-you

I’ve created Heels & High-Rises for all the ladies out there like me, hustling their cute little butts off. This blog is a platform to provide useful content to women and our fellow feminine people out there, no matter what stage they are at in their journey to success.

Hi There, I’m H.

I’m tickled pink you made it here. It must mean I’ve piqued your curiosity. Love it. Get comfy, and I’ll tell you about how I got here and what I’m up to.

4 years ago, I set a foot clad in my favorite (and only) pair of heels, scuffed at the toe, into the first high-rise I’d ever entered. I was there for an interview and was terrified enough that I took to Google for advice, marking my very first mistake as a woman entering the corporate world. Heeding the wisdom of the Google Gods, I showed up wearing panty-hoes. In 2017.

Thus, I had endured my first encounter with the horrendously outdated information available on the internet for Modern Women in the Workplace.

This is where I come in. I’ve created Heels & High-Rises as a place of empowerment and guidance for the ambitious females out there, climbing their way to the top. Blog details are coming soon!

Before I ask you to heed my guidance, let me tell you how I got here.

It all started when I was about 13 after getting into it with my older brother over Chinese take-out. Ridiculous, right?

I’ll spare you the full absurdity of teenage sibling drama- long story short, he called me an entitled little princess that didn’t know what it meant to earn anything for myself.

Even at 13, I thought that was some bullsh*t. But, at that moment, as I aggressively ingested my (now cold) takeout, something clicked in me. I wasn’t angry; I was motivated.

From that moment on, I worked every day to prove him and every other sucker that had doubted, misjudged, or assumed the worst of me wrong

Fast forward a few years

I had graduated high school early at the age of 17, with 32 college credits under my belt.

At 19, I had my own apartment in the city near the small town I grew up in, though I barely made ends meet. Somehow, it never got to me, though. I loved that little apartment, and I’d never take back the time I lived there alone, learning to love myself and who I wanted to be.

At 20, I’d landed a good job at a local bank, where I quickly became the top performer in my role and was soon promoted to a management role. Not one of my better ideas.

I was in this role for several years, and during that time, I matured. I grew. And it sucked. But that’s the thing; growth is never comfortable. That’s why they call them growing pains, I suppose. So I eventually left this role to join a two-person team tasked with building a new department and generating profit.

Now, this is all fine and dandy but boy, are you guys getting the short version. It’s wild the amount of sh*t that went down in this span of time, and I’m going to tell you all about it.

That’s where Heels & High-Rises comes in. Of all the things I’ve learned during my stretch in the corporate world, it’s that people seem to want to hear what I have to say.

So, here I am.

I’ve had serious struggles along my journey to success, and being a young woman has never helped my case.

You know what I’m referring to, don’t you? The whispers behind your back that you slept your way to where you are. Or the claims that you get preferential treatment due to your youth, beauty, or whatever the hell else the haters attempt to throw at you.

But girl, YOU got you to where you are. Your brain.Your ambition. Your drive. It’s Your F*cking Success!

It requires twice the effort, twice the thought, and twice the patience to climb the ladder as a woman. And there is next to no help out there for those self-starters who hitched up their skirts and decided to go for it.

You Got This!

Whatever your dream, the odds don’t have to be against you. There are thousands of women out there, just like you. Starting with me!

You could say the same qualities that make me a good employee have brought me here; I recognized a need, and I am putting in the work to provide a solution.

I hope that you beautiful ladies find yourself at the top of whatever ladder it is you decide to climb, and I’d love to be a part of your journey.
